Original Toyohara Kunichika (1835-1900) Japanese woodblock print. A scene from Mure Kiyotaki Hiiki no Seiriki, 1867.

Description:
Interesting kabuki portrait of Nakamura Shikan IV as Jinriki Tamigoro in "Mure Kiyotaki Hiiki no Seiriki" at the Morita Theater in Edo. He looks up with an angry frown, his lips pressed tightly together as he holds a white cloth draped over his shoulder. He wears a black kimono with a striking bamboo pattern in shades of green, tied with a blue obi.

An expressive figure, nicely detailed with fine line work in the hair and a nice wood grain impression on the sky.
